On April 11, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan participated in a cultural event at the Qalai Khujand complex, where he addressed the audience. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Tajikistan and the residents of Sughd Province on the auspicious occasion of Navruz, Eid al-Fitr, and the reopening of the historical monument “Qalai Khujand” after its renovation. This restoration stands as a significant Navruz gift to the esteemed citizens of Tajikistan and visitors to our nation.

President Rahmon highlighted the rich heritage of the Tajik nation, tracing back over six millennia, demonstrating expertise in architecture, urban planning, governance, and contributing significantly to human civilization and culture.

He emphasized that our independence and freedom afford us the opportunity to revive and showcase the vibrant history of our ancient civilization, carrying forward the noble traditions of our forebears. He underscored Tajikistan as a nation committed to civilization-building, urban development, knowledge, and creativity.

The President reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing, safeguarding, preserving, and promoting our historical and cultural legacy. Under the period of independence, over 100 historical and cultural sites have been restored, and numerous international events have been hosted in Tajikistan. Notable among these efforts are the restoration of Qalai Mugh, the town of Sarazm, the Ancient Panjakent Museum, the Academician Bobojon Ghafurov Museum, commemoration events for renowned Tajik poet Kamol Khujandi, and many other initiatives across Sughd Province.

“Tajikistan was accepted as a member of UNESCO in 1993 – one of the most influential structures of the United Nations on issues of education, science and culture.

From then, we made a lot of efforts to present the historical and cultural sites of the Tajik nation,” the Head of State emphasized.

The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, underlined that the inauguration of the “Qalai Khujand” cultural and historical complex marks a significant stride in the country’s cultural endeavors. With over three thousand historical monuments dotting our nation, each drawing the interest of esteemed domestic and international scholars, tourists, and visitors, the unveiling of “Qalai Khujand” stands out as a pivotal cultural milestone as we commence the new year.

Against the backdrop of global affairs, heads of states stressed the imperative for relentless efforts towards homeland prosperity: bolstering production, establishing workshops and enterprises, generating employment opportunities, and mitigating labor migration.

President Rahmon expressed confidence in the industrious people of Sughd Province, affirming their ability to meet these challenges with pride and competence.

Following President Rahmon’s inspiring address, the cultural festivities commenced within the expansive courtyard of the “Qalai Khujand” complex. Over six thousand participants, including government officials, members of the public, scholars, writers, historians, activists, veterans, and professionals, joined in.

The cultural extravaganza showcased 18 segments featuring theatrical performances, poetry recitations, speeches honoring historical figures, and excerpts from President Rahmon’s speeches. These presentations celebrated the rich tapestry of Tajik history and culture, paying homage to luminaries such as Abuabdullo Rudaki, Abulqosim Firdavsi, and Mirsaid Ali Hamadoni.

The performances, accompanied by captivating dances from various ensembles, encapsulated the essence of Tajik national identity and spirit, radiating pride in the motherland and reverence for its history.

More than two thousand artists from city and district cultural sectors, alongside dance ensembles, contributed to the event, enriching it with their talent and dedication.

The revitalization of Qalai Khujand, characterized by its distinctive architectural style rooted in national heritage, alongside President Rahmon’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting our cultural legacy, underscores the continuity of the state’s cultural policy.

The enthusiastic participation of Sughd Province residents and the Tajik people at large reflects a burgeoning interest in national and historical heritage, underscoring the prevailing peace, stability, and unity within the country.

President Emomali Rahmon extended gratitude to the organizers and performers for orchestrating a cultural spectacle of exceptional quality. The evening concluded with a dazzling fireworks display, adding a vibrant flourish to the festivities.
