The leading Brazilian events company PromoAção Eventos launched its 2025-26 season of themed cruises with a press conference aboard the MSC Preziosa on November 15, 2025. It chartered the 140,000-ton MSC vessel for 45 days to operate a series of 14 sailings with top Brazilian musical and cultural experiences, including a special New Year’s Eve cruise. The first cruise, dedicated to sertanejo music, was sold out, confirming the popularity of themed cruises in Brazil.
Those cruises are supposed to entertain and give a considerable boost to the tourism business in Rio de Janeiro and its surroundings, strengthening the position of this city as an international tourist destination. By integrating regional tourism development into their itinerary, PromoAção is playing an important role in stimulating the local economy and attracting international visitors.

PromoAção’s Managing Director, Bruno Ribeiro, stated that the company aims to deliver more than just performances: “We deliver community, emotion, and a high-standard, safe, comfortable structure with international-class entertainment.” The MSC Preziosa has been transformed with a temporary stage set up in just 24 hours, ready to host an exciting lineup of Brazilian music performances. The first themed cruise was a resounding success, reportedly selling out before departure.
One of the standout features of the 2025-26 cruise season is the special New Year’s Eve music festival cruise. This four-night voyage includes live performances from local artists and a unique stop in Copacabana, where passengers will experience the world-famous fireworks display that lights up the Rio de Janeiro skyline every year. This cruise offers an unparalleled combination of local culture, world-class entertainment, and Brazilian tradition, drawing tourists from across the globe.

“Music has always been my passion. And the sea, my refuge. Uniting these two worlds was the way I found to share this magic with all our passengers,” said Eduardo Cristófaro, President of PromoAção. This New Year’s Eve event perfectly encapsulates the fusion of Brazilian culture and luxury travel, providing travelers with an unforgettable experience while reinforcing Rio de Janeiro’s status as a global tourism destination.
The launch of the themed cruises also marks the beginning of a new partnership between PromoAção and the Rio de Janeiro State Government. PromoAção aims to integrate its cruises with regional tourism development, with plans to visit 29 destinations across Rio de Janeiro this season.

According to Tutuca, a representative from the state government, themed cruises represent a significant opportunity for Rio de Janeiro’s tourism sector: “Themed cruises represent a great opportunity for Rio de Janeiro’s tourism,” he explained. “These calls will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Búzios, and Angra dos Reis, and we expect them to generate significant contributions to the local economy.”
The visits to Rio de Janeiro, Búzios, and Angra dos Reis will not only enhance the city’s tourism infrastructure but also contribute directly to local businesses, restaurants, and tourism services. The presence of thousands of cruise passengers will boost demand for hotel accommodations, local tours, and transportation services, providing a much-needed economic stimulus to these key tourism hubs.
By integrating themed cruises into the region’s tourism strategy, PromoAção is helping diversify tourism offerings in Rio de Janeiro, attracting a broader demographic of travelers from Brazil and beyond. This is expected to foster sustainable tourism growth by encouraging longer stays and more investment in tourism-related infrastructure.
The partnership between PromoAção and the Rio de Janeiro State Government is a strategic effort to position the state as a global tourism destination. As Rio de Janeiro continues to evolve as a major player in the global tourism industry, these themed cruises represent a new and innovative way to attract visitors, contribute to local economic growth, and bolster tourism development across the region. By offering a mix of entertainment, cultural experiences, and scenic beauty, PromoAção is setting the stage for long-term success and greater regional collaboration.
These thematic cruises also let international tourists discover the Brazilian coast’s ‘better-kept secrets’ while promoting Brazil’s popular spots. Visits to Búzios and Angra dos Reis will take travelers to other lesser-known but equally breathtaking parts of Brazil’s coastline, developing local tourism and showcasing the variety of what the region has in store for tourists. This will hopefully increase their chances of being in the spotlight as tourist destinations, as travelers are looking for new and genuine cultural experiences.
Furthermore, in the years to come, Brazil will see further development in the field of tourism on water: the unique combination of beach resorts, historical sites, and vivid cultural attractions will attract people from different parts of the world. By positioning Rio de Janeiro as a starting point, PromoAção contributes to the increase in Brazil’s maritime tourism, placing the country on the map and making it one of the premium cruise destinations in South America.
