The ABZ Propeller Fund, administered by Aberdeen International Airport, has boosted its funding allocation to £30,000 for the current year. This enhancement coincides with the celebration of the North East’s largest transportation hub reaching its 90th anniversary milestone.

Originally established to bolster regional support, the ABZ Propeller Fund has played a pivotal role in providing crucial assistance to numerous deserving causes throughout its existence. By augmenting the funding to £30,000, Aberdeen International Airport reaffirms its dedication to empowering local initiatives and catalyzing positive transformations within the community.

Since its relaunch in 2022, the fund has disbursed £50,000 to 37 organizations through grants linked to various fields such as education, sustainability, and economic revitalization.

Bruce Watson, Chairman of the ABZ Propeller Fund, said: “As we celebrate Aberdeen International Airport’s 90th year, we are delighted to announce the expansion of the ABZ Propeller Fund to £30,000.

“We have been delighted to help several worthy projects over the last two years and we hope we can help more with our increased funding for this year.”

Cllr Alan Turner, chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, added: “As a local authority we have been delighted to play an integral role within this important north-east funding stream for many years.

“From an Aberdeenshire perspective, we were delighted to see Belhelvie Community Trust and Portlethen Air Cadets being supported financially in their efforts in recent rounds.

“By providing financial support to community groups and charities both in the City and Shire which are committed to improving opportunities and services available to local residents, the ABZ Propeller Fund is demonstrating its ongoing commitment to local education, economic regeneration and sustainability.”

The ABZ Propeller Fund committee comprises airport personnel, alongside delegates from local authorities, the third sector, and the Scottish Parliament.

Any organization seeking to apply is encouraged to thoroughly review the guidelines of the ABZ Propeller Fund.
