Puducherry – Best place for spiritual tourism

The Indian President on Monday talked about the spiritual aspect of Puducherry that makes this city one of the important centres for promoting yoga. President of India, Droupadi Murmu, said that she was happy to find that spiritual tourism was getting enhanced in Puducherry.

Puducherry sees a huge gathering every year to have fun on the international yoga day, the President she said. Spiritual tourism is rapidly turning into a global trend.

During her first visit to Puducherry, the President while addressing an assembly at the civic reception accorded at JIPMER, said that this city was a superb destination when it comes to spiritual tourism and also mentioned that spiritual tourism was fast coming up as a global trend. 

Murmu also highlighted that spiritual tourism has the possibility to improve Puducherry’s socio economic development.  She observed that the central government has adopted many steps under Swadesh Dharshan plan to encourage tourism activities in Puducherry.

Also, the President inaugurated the Rs 10.51 crore Ayush hospital set up virtually in the adjacent Villianoor. She said that it had come up under the National Ayush Mission. It would offer reasonably priced and holistic health care under Ayurveda, Siddha and Homeopathy medicines. She also said that the city is a mix of different cultures.
