Arajet Airlines, the Dominican Republic’s low-cost carrier, has officially launched its new nonstop flight route between Punta Cana (PUJ) and Córdoba (COR), Argentina, beginning December 1, 2025. This new service represents a major development in air connectivity between the Caribbean and Argentina’s interior, offering travelers a quick and convenient connection between the two regions.
Previously, passengers wishing to fly between Punta Cana and Córdoba had to go through multiple layovers, with many choosing to route through Buenos Aires. With Arajet’s new service, however, the airline aims to streamline travel between these two culturally rich regions of the Americas, expanding its network beyond Buenos Aires to offer direct access to other important Argentine cities.
The introduction of this route is a significant milestone for Arajet as the airline continues to expand its presence in South America. The Punta Cana–Córdoba route will operate five times per week, providing direct access for Córdoba residents to the beaches and resorts of the Dominican Republic. This new connection will likely drive tourism to both regions, offering Argentinians an easy gateway to the Caribbean, while also allowing Dominicans and other Caribbean nationals a convenient way to explore Argentina’s bustling interior cities.
Arajet has chosen to operate this route using their Boeing 737-8 aircraft, also known as the 737 MAX-8. This aircraft is known for its fuel efficiency and lower operational costs, allowing the airline to offer affordable fares while maintaining high standards of safety and comfort for passengers.

The launch of the PUJ–COR route is backed by official government approval from both the Dominican Republic and Argentina. In August 2025, the Argentine Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) authorized Arajet to operate several routes between Argentina and the Dominican Republic, including flights to Córdoba, Mendoza, and Rosario. This decision came as part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity within South America and further promote tourism.
According to Arajet’s official statements, the airline had been in talks with the Argentine government for months before securing the necessary approvals. Arajet’s entry into Córdoba’s international flight market will not only benefit Córdoba’s tourism sector but also provide a boost to business travel between Argentina and the Caribbean.

For travelers in both Punta Cana and Córdoba, this route will be a game changer. Here’s why:
Punta Cana is one of the Dominican Republic’s top tourist destinations, known for its white-sand beaches, all-inclusive resorts, and crystal-clear waters. Visitors can enjoy a range of water activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing, along with an array of vibrant restaurants and nightlife. For families, the area boasts several theme parks, while adventure seekers can explore national parks or experience horseback riding through lush landscapes.
Córdoba, on the other hand, is located in the heart of Argentina and is a popular destination for both locals and international tourists. Known for its colonial architecture, historical landmarks, and rich culture, Córdoba offers visitors a more authentic Argentine experience. The city is surrounded by the beautiful Sierras de Córdoba, providing excellent hiking opportunities, while Córdoba’s universities and vibrant cultural scene make it a youthful and dynamic place to visit. Additionally, Córdoba is often used as a gateway for exploring Argentina’s wine country, as the Mendoza region is just a short flight away.
Arajet is positioning itself as a key player in connecting the Caribbean to South America. The Punta Cana–Córdoba route is just the beginning. Following the success of this new route, it’s expected that Arajet will continue to expand its network to other South American cities, including Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Lima.
Córdoba could serve as a launch point for further expansion into Argentina and other regions in Latin America, enhancing the connectivity of both the Dominican Republic and South America. As more passengers begin flying this new route, Arajet is likely to monitor demand and increase the frequency of flights or introduce new destinations within Argentina.
The launch of the Punta Cana to Córdoba route marks a pivotal moment in Arajet’s expansion strategy, not only enhancing connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Argentina but also offering a new, affordable travel option for tourists and business travelers alike. The route strengthens the airline’s position in South America and paves the way for further growth within the region.
As the new PUJ–COR route takes off, Arajet continues to provide travelers with affordable, convenient, and safe air travel to some of the most sought-after destinations in the Americas.
