Qatar Airways is expanding its involvement in sports sponsorships by becoming the Official Airline and Title Sponsor of the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 Km FIA World Endurance Championship. The event will take place at the prestigious Lusail International Circuit, signifying an important chapter in motorsports as the distinguished airline collaborates with the FIA World Endurance Championship for its twelfth season in 2024.
The season’s kick-off is scheduled from February 29 to March 2, 2024, at the renowned Lusail International Circuit, with the race lasting nearly 10 hours and officially named the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 Km.
Known for its dedication to excellence and innovation, Qatar Airways is excited to back the FIA World Endurance Championship in Lusail, introducing the event to Qatar’s rich sporting culture and supporting the nation’s hosting of premier sports events.
Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with the Qatar 1812 World Endurance Championship as both the Official Title Partner and Airline Partner. He highlighted the opportunity to engage with motorsport fans and introduce them to Qatar, enhancing visibility for the brand at the circuit and online.
Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the FIA World Endurance Championship, welcomed Qatar Airways as the title sponsor for the event’s debut, emphasizing the synergy between the two brands in delivering exceptional experiences for their audiences and fans.
Amro al-Hamad, Executive Director of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation and CEO of Lusail International Circuit, also expressed pride in the partnership with Qatar Airways for the championship, underlining Qatar’s increasing prominence in motorsports and their joint commitment to excellence.
The championship promises a global adventure across eight countries on four continents, featuring top endurance racing. The season will see an unprecedented lineup of manufacturers like Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Isotta Fraschini, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, and others, with a record 19 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3 participating. Noteworthy participants include Valentino Rossi, a seven-time MotoGP World Champion competing for Team WRT in LMGT3, and Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula One World Champion.
Fans are invited to experience the championship’s thrilling atmosphere, with access to grandstands and paddocks, close-up views of cars during the pit-walk, interactions with drivers in meet and greet sessions, and weekend entertainment in the fan zone.
