Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, the CEO of Qatar Airways Group, has been chosen as a member of the Board of Governors for the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

IATA serves as the global trade association for airlines worldwide, representing approximately 83% of total air traffic with its 320 member airlines. The primary mission of IATA is to advocate for the interests of airlines across the world, leading and serving the airline industry.

AACO is a regional association that represents 34 Arab airlines. Its mission revolves around promoting cooperation among member airlines in various areas, including aero-political affairs, environmental sustainability, and training through its regional training center. Engr. Badr Al-Meer’s experience in the aviation industry will be invaluable in AACO’s efforts to collaborate with regional and international organizations, governments, airlines, manufacturers, and service providers.

This expansion project, considered one of Doha’s most challenging engineering endeavors, was completed ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

From 2018 to 2020, Engr. Badr Al-Meer served as a Board Director of the Airports Council International in the Asia/Pacific Region, where his expertise contributed to future airport development and sustainability.
