Kevin Hogan, Nationals Shadow Minister for Trade and Tourism said that the Albanese government’s verdict to halt Qatar Airways growing its flights to Australia will affect the country’s important tourism segment in addition to their farmers.

Mr. Hogan said that Labor’s refusal of Qatar Airways’ demand to double volume with an additional 28 weekly air travel will upset the segments which cannot have enough money for it, and comes with the deteriorating of trade performance.

Mr. Hogan said that figures exhibit that their exports dropped two per cent, and hence, they need more
prospects for air cargo, not less.

He added that the government’s pronouncement has said no to 700,000 extra places from Europe and the
Middle East every year, which would have produced hundreds of millions of dollars in financial incentive for their tourism sector, including their farmers and the wider economy.

Visitor influxes are presently only 60% of the levels before the pandemic.

Mr. Hogan said that concerning air cargo, the government’s judgment is predominantly affecting
meat, seafood, dairy and honey goods, horticulture, which in an organized way justify nearly two-thirds of
their exports.
