Alongside Helsinki, Qatar Airways will also restart operations to Tokyo Haneda Airport from 15 July 2026. The airline currently serves Tokyo Narita, and the addition of Haneda will provide travelers with greater flexibility when visiting Japan.

The Tokyo Haneda route will initially operate four times weekly before increasing to daily services from 1 August 2026. Flights during the first phase will operate every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Haneda Airport is considered one of Japan’s busiest and most convenient airports due to its location closer to central Tokyo. The airport offers faster access to major business districts, tourist attractions, and domestic transportation networks.

The expansion is expected to improve travel options for passengers connecting from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa while also supporting tourism growth in Japan during the summer travel season.

Doha continues to serve as a major transit hub connecting travelers to destinations across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. By adding more frequencies and restoring suspended routes, the airline aims to improve travel flexibility and reduce transit times for international passengers.

The expansion also highlights the growing recovery of global aviation and the increasing demand for long-haul travel after several years of network adjustments across the airline industry.

Industry experts believe the return of both Helsinki and Tokyo Haneda routes will help increase tourism traffic while supporting trade and business travel between the connected regions.

Summer 2026 Expected to Bring Higher Passenger Traffic

Airlines across the world are preparing for strong passenger demand during Summer 2026, especially on routes connecting Europe and Asia. Qatar Airways’ latest network additions are expected to play an important role in handling increased international travel during the peak holiday season.

The airline stated that Haneda operations will complement its existing Tokyo Narita services while providing easier access to central Tokyo and improved domestic travel connections within Japan. Haneda Airport is considered one of Japan’s busiest and most convenient airports due to its close location to Tokyo’s city center.

The airline continues investing in route development, operational expansion, and passenger connectivity as competition grows among global carriers. Travelers are expected to benefit from additional flight options, improved schedules, and easier access to international destinations through Doha.

The resumed flights to Helsinki and Tokyo Haneda mark another step in Qatar Airways’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its worldwide presence and maintain its position as one of the leading international airlines connecting multiple global regions.
