Qatar has secured the hosting rights for the prestigious T100 Triathlon World Championship Finals from 2025 to 2029, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s commitment to elite sports. This development follows a five-year strategic partnership agreement between Visit Qatar, the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon, and the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation.

Inaugural Event Set for December 2025

The first edition of the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final will take place from December 11th to 13th, 2025. Athletes will compete in a dynamic course featuring a swim segment in the Arabian Gulf, followed by cycling and running legs through the vibrant streets of Doha and Lusail. The race will pass by several of Qatar’s iconic landmarks, including Lusail Stadium, enhancing the experience for both participants and spectators.

A Multisport Festival for Professionals and Amateurs

Beyond the professional competition, the event will feature a multisport festival offering opportunities for amateur athletes. Enthusiasts can take part in various swim, bike, and run challenges, including the newly introduced 100km triathlon distance. This format, comprising a 2km swim, an 80km bike ride, and an 18km run, will allow amateur competitors to race alongside some of the world’s top professional triathletes.

Elite Athletes to Compete for World Championship Glory

Earlier this month, the list of athletes for the 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour was announced, featuring an impressive roster of world-class competitors from 13 nations. The women’s competition will be headlined by American Olympian Taylor Knibb and Belgian Olympian Marten Van Riel, both of whom made history by winning the first-ever T100 Triathlon World Championship Finals in Dubai.

Throughout the season, each athlete must participate in at least five of the ten T100 races. Their top four performances, along with their results from the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final—where points will be doubled—will determine their overall ranking.

This five-year partnership with Visit Qatar allows us to achieve that vision in one of the fastest-growing, family-friendly tourist destinations in the world, which welcomed more than five million visitors last year. Qatar’s residents and visitors are showing increasing demand not only to attend world-class sporting events but also to participate in them. The legacy of major events like the FIFA World Cup and Formula 1 has encouraged such demand. The season-long series will be known as the T100 Race to Qatar and will not only be a spectacular finale for our new professional series, but also provide opportunities for amateur swimmers, cyclists, and runners – from first timers to the inaugural T100 Age Group World Championships.”
