Radisson RED, the dynamic lifestyle brand under the Radisson Hotel Group umbrella, has forged a significant partnership with the esteemed ARCOMadrid contemporary art fair this year. This collaboration marks the unveiling of an inaugural contemporary art exhibition at Radisson RED Madrid, showcasing the works of two prominent figures in the contemporary art scene, Diana Larrea and Daniel Canogar. Notably, Canogar was honored as the recipient of the XIX edition of the ARCO/BEEP Award for Electronic Art. The exhibition, available for public viewing until March 31, features a curated selection of 23 artworks by Larrea and Canogar, adorning both the hotel’s lobby and rooftop spaces.

In collaboration with Espacio Mínimo gallery, Larrea’s contributions to the exhibition encompass four pieces from her series employing infrared reflectography. These artworks, inspired by the realm of art restoration, utilize infrared light to unveil concealed information beneath layers of pigments. Larrea’s work, rendered in black charcoal on canvas, presents reflectograms obtained through this distinctive technique. Additionally, Larrea presents seven photographs titled “Such a Day Like Today,” blending elements of feminist activism and historical inquiry by showcasing overlooked women artists from the past through digitally modified self-portraits.

Canogar’s section of the exhibition showcases three projects, highlighting his pioneering endeavors in digital art. Collaborating with Max Estrella gallery, Canogar presents rotating videos, notably featuring “Scrawl,” a piece that dynamically responds to real-time Twitter trends. “Wayward” revisits the tradition of manipulating press photographs, this time employing digital tools to reprocess contemporary photojournalistic images. Lastly, “Chyron” utilizes news tickers from major international channels to create an algorithmic artwork reflecting the complex nature of modern media landscapes.

Complementing the art exhibition, Radisson RED Madrid offers curated art tours, providing guests with immersive experiences exploring the vibrant art scene of Madrid’s Golden Triangle. Additionally, the hotel boasts a prime location on Calle de Atocha, surrounded by renowned art museums and galleries. Featuring modern accommodations, including 260 rooms and suites, the hotel embodies Radisson RED’s signature design ethos, seamlessly blending bold aesthetics with artistic flair. Furthermore, the hotel’s culinary offerings, including options from renowned chef Eneko Atxa, add to its allure as a cultural and gastronomic destination in the heart of Madrid.
