The warm weather enjoyed by Britons is set to come to an end this weekend as a wave of rain and snow is expected to hit the United Kingdom.
The Met Office predicts a “marked difference” in temperatures, with chilly northerly gusts from the Arctic Circle replacing the warm mid-Atlantic air from the Iberian Peninsula that has dominated for the past few days.

The change in conditions is expected to begin on Friday and last until the start of next week. Some areas may experience heavy rain and thunder, with a possibility of wintry conditions such as sleet or snow in Scotland and southern parts of the country.
The London Marathon runners have been told to expect cloudy conditions with the chance of some showers later in the day.

The cold air is set to continue coming down from the north next week, creating a clear split in the weather with milder temperatures in the south and colder, drier conditions in the north.
WXCharts, an independent forecaster, predicts heavy snow in northern Scotland on Sunday before reaching border areas in England the following day. However, for most people in England and Wales, the outlook over the next 72 hours will be wet rather than wintry, with some fine weather in Scotland and Northern Ireland until later in the weekend.

This sudden change in weather is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the climate and the importance of being prepared for unexpected weather conditions.
