Ras Al Khaimah is to introduce its own music and wellness festival, underpinned by music, art and mental health.
Conceived by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), RAKtopia will bring together certified yogis, Pilates instructors, dance teachers and musicians. It will run from October 22 to 23 at the emirate’s Longbeach Campground.
According to organisers, the festival is designed to revitalise, inspire and spark creativity and is the perfect place to connect with nature, body and mind.
Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, commented as they continue to keep wellness and mental wellbeing at the forefront of our tourism strategy, RAKtopia is about nurturing communities and creating soulful connections.
Through this co-creative experience, we aim to foster an inclusive space for ongoing wellness, expression and self-exploration in the Emirate.
Ras Al Khaimah wary of over-tourism amid successful growth
As development in Ras Al Khaimah continues to increase, RAKTDA earlier this year announced plans to ensure the emirate does not suffer from over-tourism. With a tourism sector so closely linked to its natural environment, protecting these assets are vital for RAK’s touristic ambitions.
To this end, RAKTDA has announced the Balanced Tourism strategy, which both seeks to make the emirate a regional leader in sustainable tourism, and help avoid over-tourism by 2025.
RAKTDA is placing all aspects of sustainability (environment, culture, conservation and livability) at the center of its investment and development strategy.
It will look at issues such as over-development, crowding of heritage sites, and the spoiling of its unique natural environment.
