The impressive Rhapsody of the Seas cruise ship, managed by Royal Caribbean, made a grand entrance at Ayia Napa marina on Thursday morning.
With a staggering length of 297 meters, 12 decks, and the capacity to accommodate 2,200 passengers and 800 crew members, it marked its second consecutive year docking in Cyprus.
Welcomed by Ayia Napa mayor Christos Zannettou, marina chief officer Costas Fitiris, and Tourism deputy ministry representatives, the ship’s crew and passengers were ferried ashore from the coast. Commemorating its arrival, a plaque was presented to the ship’s officers, while onboard members received gifts including local olive oil.
Though Deputy Tourism Minister Costas Koumis missed the arrival due to a cabinet meeting, he praised the high-quality infrastructure of Ayia Napa marina, affirming the government’s dedication to enhancing maritime tourism.
Senior officer Gary Waugh expressed gratitude for the hospitality, and the ship is set to depart on Thursday evening, with plans to return in October, promoting consistent cruise tourism and mitigating seasonal fluctuations.
