Richard Simmons appointed as new GM of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila

Richard Simmons has been appointed as the new General Manager of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, a Forbes Five-Star landmark hotel. WHARF Hotels made this appointment with the aim of enhancing the hotel’s operational excellence and financial performance.

Simmons brings over two decades of experience in senior leadership positions within the hospitality industry, including roles in Rooms, Sales and Marketing, and Revenue. His previous positions include General Manager roles with Hyatt Hotels in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Manila, as well as with Amari Hotels in Bangkok. Notably, this marks Simmons’ third posting in the Philippines, having previously worked with Shangri-La in Cebu and Hyatt Hotels in Manila.

As an Australian national who grew up in a family deeply connected to the hospitality and travel sectors, Simmons has a strong background in the industry. He is also an avid traveler and golfer, and he enjoys attending live sports events. Additionally, he maintains a strong connection with his two teenage daughters in Germany.

Under Simmons’ leadership, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila aims to continue its commitment to providing exceptional service and elevating guest experiences in the evolving landscape of travel and tourism. The hotel has earned the prestigious Forbes Five-Star designation from 2017 to 2023 and is a member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA), the world’s largest alliance of independent hotel brands.
