Rizhao City Spring into Festival season with vibrant cultural celebrations

During the Spring Festival period, Rizhao City in Shandong Province, eastern China, has introduced a variety of cultural events themed around the Year of the Dragon, as noted by a spokesperson from a local cultural tourism firm.

In Dongyi Town, a coastal area known for its leisure and traditional culture, a temple fair has drawn numerous visitors. Here, attendees can experience performances of the area’s intangible cultural heritages, savor local culinary specialties, and purchase memorabilia.

At the heart of the main street in the tourism district, a unique local folk dance has been presented, showcasing the fishermen’s deep respect and affection for the sea. This performance has captivated both locals and visitors from afar.

Each evening since February 2, a lantern exhibition based on the ancient text “Shan Hai Jing” (Classic of Mountains and Seas) has illuminated the vicinity of Dongyi Town, transforming the coastal resort into a fantastical scene.

Beyond Dongyi Town, various attractions in Rizhao have organized diverse cultural and tourism activities to enhance the holiday experience for those celebrating in the city.

For example, the Wanpingkou Scenic Spot has hosted dragon and lion dances for the Lunar New Year celebrations, while other parks and resorts have introduced an array of special holiday promotions and travel packages.
