easyJet has expanded its support for nervous passengers after its Fearless Flyer programme reached a major milestone of 15,000 participants, highlighting the continued demand for programmes designed to help travelers overcome anxiety and feel more confident in the skies.
The airline’s Fearless Flyer initiative, launched in 2012, has helped thousands of people address their fear of flying through a combination of aviation education, practical preparation and confidence-building techniques. easyJet says the programme has achieved a success rate of more than 95 percent, demonstrating its effectiveness in helping passengers take their first steps toward stress-free flying.
Fear of flying remains one of the most common concerns among air passengers, with around one in six people experiencing nervousness when traveling by plane. While some passengers feel mild anxiety, others experience intense fear that can prevent them from flying altogether.
The Fearless Flyer programme aims to remove uncertainty around air travel by explaining how aircraft operate, what passengers can expect during different stages of a flight and how to manage anxious thoughts. The initiative is designed for people with different levels of fear, including those experiencing severe aerophobia.

To support more passengers, easyJet has introduced 11 new Fearless Flyer courses across the UK for the Autumn and Winter 2026/27 season. The expanded schedule allows participants to select a programme location closer to home, making it easier for nervous flyers to access expert support.
The courses include experience flights departing from London Gatwick, London Luton, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Jersey and Belfast. Newcastle has also been added back to the programme schedule for the first time since 2019, increasing access for passengers in the region.
The Fearless Flyer experience is divided into three stages, combining online learning with a real-world flight experience.
The first stage is a virtual ground course that introduces participants to the fundamentals of flying. During the session, easyJet pilots explain the sounds, sensations and movements passengers may experience during take-off, landing and turbulence.
Many nervous flyers are affected by unfamiliar noises or physical sensations during a journey. By understanding why these events happen and how aircraft respond, participants gain greater reassurance and confidence before taking their flight.
The programme also includes psychological techniques designed to help passengers manage fear and anxiety. Participants learn methods to control nervous reactions, develop positive thought patterns and approach flying with a calmer mindset.
The second stage is an online Meet the Team session, which provides further preparation before the experience flight. During the one-hour session, participants learn about airport procedures, boarding and what to expect throughout their journey.
The interactive session allows passengers to ask questions and receive guidance about their concerns, helping them become more familiar with the airport and aircraft environment before their flight.
The final stage is the experience flight, lasting up to one hour from the selected airport. During this flight, participants use the techniques learned during the course while receiving live support and explanations from the Fearless Flyer team.
The practical experience allows passengers to apply their new knowledge in a real aviation environment, helping them build confidence and overcome the fears that previously limited their ability to travel.
For those who want to begin the programme without an in-person flight experience, easyJet also offers an online-only Fearless Flyer course starting from £89 per person.
The milestone of 15,000 participants represents more than a decade of efforts to make air travel more accessible for nervous passengers. The programme has helped people regain the confidence to fly for holidays, professional commitments and personal journeys.
The latest participant milestone was achieved following a course held at London Southend Airport, marking another significant step in the programme’s ongoing expansion.
The Autumn and Winter 2026/27 experience flight schedule will begin with a departure from London Gatwick on September 20, 2026. Additional flights will operate from Manchester on September 27, Edinburgh on October 4, Jersey on October 10, Birmingham on October 17 and Bristol on November 7.
The programme will continue with flights from London Luton on November 8, Newcastle on November 15, Manchester on November 21, London Gatwick on November 22 and Belfast on January 31, 2027.
As the aviation industry continues to focus on improving the passenger experience, easyJet’s Fearless Flyer programme demonstrates the growing importance of supporting travelers beyond traditional flight services. By combining aviation knowledge, psychological support and practical experience, the initiative continues to help thousands of passengers overcome one of the biggest barriers to flying.
With new courses now available across the UK, easyJet aims to support even more nervous passengers in gaining the confidence needed to travel by air and enjoy the opportunities that flying provides.
