Roberto Bermúdez discusses Juniper Technology’s role at ITB Berlin 2024

During the third day of ITB 2024, Apratim Ghoshal, the Founder Editor, Travel And Tour World had the privilege of interviewing Roberto Bermúdez, the Director and Head of Juniper Experiences by NexusTours.

Travel And Tour World: Can you tell us about your Juniper Experiences by NexusTours and your collaborative work with other companies?

Roberto Bermúdez: Yes, so we have created our joint venture, which is Juniper and Nexus, and this company is called 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘂𝘀𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. Additionally, we want to accomplish two goals: on the one hand, we want to supply DMCs and operators with technology. Conversely, we are developing a global marketplace for activities and transfers at the Nexus Cube. We appreciate the DMCs.

Travel And Tour World: How can a Destination Management Company benefit from your product?

Roberto Bermúdez: This market is highly fragmented, but because of the technology we are offering here at Juniper, they have access to a wide range of tools that will enable them to perform effectively there. in a seamless and quickest way, which also makes it easier for them to distribute. 

Travel And Tour World: So what is the concept of this?

Roberto Bermúdez: The best of travel, which is about the experiences and activities you may have at destinations and the freedom to pick and choose the activities you want to do while travelling, is easily accessible to everyone, so there are really no limits to what we are trying to achieve in this market. 

Travel And Tour World: So, mainly where do you find your clients from: Europe, United States of America or globally?

Roberto Bermúdez: We are not B2B. Because this market is B2B, the tour operators and agencies that are using Juniper technology to outperform us are found all over the world. Our primary focus is on the American markets due to the product we have to set up, which is highly specialized in the American market but highly personalized in Europe and growing into Asia. 

Travel And Tour World: So, how important is ITB Berlin 2024 for you? 

Roberto Bermúdez: Oh, that is great. Since we have been here for the entire week, there have been a lot of specialized activities and tours, and since ITB Berlin 2024 is so well-known, you can find partners, buyers, and sellers from all over the world. 

Travel And Tour the World: You mentioned Asia, so how big is your Asia clientele and where and which shows are you planning to participate in?

Roberto Bermúdez: We currently have a lot of products in Asia, but customers only buy about 20% of our inventory. Nevertheless, we intend to invest in a few teams operating in Asia, and we will also be at a number of trade exhibitions, including ATM in Dubai and ITB in Singapore, among others. 

Travel And Tour World: So do you have any product differences between Asia and Europe, or is there the same product that you are catering to the whole market?

Roberto Bermúdez: Actually, it is the same; it is about experiences and transportation to ensure that you have an amazing time there. The primary distinction in our value proposition is that we work directly with the operator to give you access to a direct product, which is less expensive. The second is the services offered by local experts and destinations. 

Travel And Tour World: If you can talk about the US market that really talks about the technology companies and the products, what is your perception?

Roberto Bermúdez: Although it appears that way, operators and agencies are incredibly friendly when you speak with them. They exhibit strong competitiveness within both the domestic and Caribbean markets, areas where we are well-positioned to offer them outstanding service.
