Ryanair has issued a flight warning to British tourists travelling to and from the south of the UK of “potential disruption”.

An airline spokesperson said: “Potential disruptions to and from southern UK on Thursday, February 22 due to high winds.

“Affected passengers will be notified and any passengers travelling to and from southern UK on Thursday, February 22 should check their Ryanair app for the latest updates on their flight.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to passengers by these weather conditions, which are outside of Ryanair’s control and affect all airlines operating to and from southern UK on Thursday, February 22.”

Passengers affected by the disruption should be contacted directly by Ryanair and tourists can also check the airline’s website.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for some parts of the UK due to heavy rain that could cause flooding and disruption.

Met Office chief meteorologist Paul Gundersen said: “After what has been a wet February so far, further rain is on the way on Thursday, accompanied by some gusty winds and potential impacts for those within the warning areas which cover much of southern, central and eastern England.

“There’s a small chance that wind gusts could reach 60-70mph, mostly likely on exposed coasts, though more widely we’re likely to see a shorter spell of heavy, squally rain with hail and thunder in a few places and gusts to around 50mph.”

Ryanair will post updates to its app and passengers may want to leave extra time to travel to the airport.
