Ryanair January survey exposes 125% overcharges by CTA pirates

Ryanair released its January OTA Pirate survey today, exposing eDreams as the top offender for overcharging customers by an outrageous 125% for a reserved seat priced at a mere €12 on Ryanair.

Although eDreams claims the undesirable title of the worst OTA Pirate for January, other offenders also secured a spot on the “consumer rip-off” leaderboard. Opodo, for instance, charged a staggering 108% more (€38.31 for a €18.79 10kg bag), and On the Beach followed suit with a 63% overcharge (£34.99 for a £21.49 20kg bag). Notably, On the Beach takes the crown for the most deceptive practice among these OTA Pirates, imposing a fictitious “extra requests” fee of €30 on consumers for a non-existent “service.”

The persistence of OTA Pirates in deceiving and overcharging unsuspecting consumers with unjustifiable or imaginary fees for services that don’t exist is unacceptable. Ryanair remains committed to advocating for consumer protection against the practices of these overcharging and misleading OTA Pirates. Once again, Ryanair urges the UK and Irish Governments and EU consumer agencies to take decisive action to put an end to OTA piracy and protect consumers from these rip-offs.

This is just one of hundreds of examples where OTA Pirates are unlawfully scraping Ryanair’s website (an act of digital piracy) and then using this unlawfully obtained info to dupe and scam unsuspecting consumers with overcharges for products and services, which are free of charge on Ryanair.com.

Ryanair calls again on UK and Irish Govts and EU consumer agencies to take action to outlaw this internet piracy and blatant anti-consumer mis-selling.”
