Saudi Arabia and San Marino, world’s oldest republic have decided to increase tourism cooperation during a visit by the Tourism Minister of the Kingdom, Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb.

He met with the Foreign Secretary of San Marino, Luca Beccari and Tourism Secretary, Federico Pedini Amati.

Located in the northeast of Italy, a famous beach location, San Marino, has been an independent state for 1,720 years. It has a population of 34,000.

San Marino with its medieval buildings, monuments and iconic landscapes, is a popular attraction for visitors to the Riviera Romagnola.

A group of experts from San Marino and Saudi Arabia will work in tandem “to foster the development of an important sector for the economy,” as per a media event attended by Arab News.

Pedini Amati explained that additional cooperation will be created “so that the two countries will deepen the knowledge of their respective challenges on the horizon and evaluate the opportunities for collaboration and exchange, and to consider the opportunities for mutual investments.”

Of late, Saudi Arabia introduced its Digital Tourism Strategy. It’s designed to grow tourist inflow. Riyadh is a candidate city to organize the World Expo 2030.
