The Sanya Tourism Board, in partnership with tourism enterprises from the Sanya Economic Circle, has initiated a series of marketing and promotional endeavors in Singapore for 2024. Through various activities such as Sanya tourism promotions, business engagements, and discussions on air routes, a robust platform for tourism cooperation between the two locales has been established, capitalizing on Singapore’s stature as a global aviation hub. This initiative aims to spotlight the allure of “Beautiful Sanya” to the international market and broaden Sanya’s global customer base.

Given Singapore’s pivotal role as a global aviation hub and its significance along the “Maritime Silk Road,” it stands as a crucial inbound market for Sanya. The recent launch of the “Phnom Penh-Sanya-Singapore” route under the Hainan Free Trade Port last December has directly connected two significant points in Southeast Asia. Moreover, the mutual visa exemption between China and Singapore since February this year has significantly eased bilateral travel, unlocking opportunities for collaboration across tourism, education, technology, and beyond.

The influx of Singaporean tourists to Sanya has surged, with January and February witnessing a 661% increase in overnight arrivals compared to the same period last year. Sanya’s tropical climate, pristine beaches, diverse water activities, and affordable tourism offerings resonate strongly with the Singaporean market. Leveraging Singapore’s aviation hub status and the visa-free policy for tourists from 59 countries under the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya aims to deepen its ties with the international market, fostering tourism consumption, trade, and cultural exchanges. This concerted effort seeks to craft multi-destination travel packages in Sanya, attracting visitors from across the globe and unlocking fresh prospects.

The onsite event featured participation from diverse tourism-related enterprises covering accommodations, transportation, luxury yachts, and wedding tourism within the Sanya Economic Circle. The Sanya Tourism Board is committed to nurturing a platform for collaborative engagement with international partners, fostering deeper cultural and tourism exchanges. By forging closer ties with Singapore’s tourism industry, the Board seeks to extend its reach to overseas target demographics, disseminate up-to-date tourism product information from Sanya globally, and aid enterprises within the Sanya Economic Circle in aligning their offerings with market demand to entice more international tourists.

To streamline consumption for inbound tourists and broaden overseas customer markets, Hainan Province has introduced the “Hainan Safe Pay APP,” addressing payment hurdles faced by foreign visitors in China. Leveraging various channels and platforms, the Sanya Tourism Board will vigorously promote this user-friendly payment solution both domestically and internationally. Moreover, channels for consultation and complaints have been established via the “VisitSanya” account on social media platforms to safeguard the consumer rights of overseas tourists, enhancing their willingness to spend.

The tourism promotion event saw participation from representatives of over 30 tourism enterprises from Singapore alongside media personnel. In-depth discussions ensued between these delegates and counterparts from enterprises within the Sanya Economic Circle, delving into the evolving landscape of Sanya’s tourism offerings and the future trajectory of tourism collaboration. As a member of the Silk Road Tourism Cities Alliance, Sanya remains committed to bolstering tourism linkages with destinations along the “Maritime Silk Road.” Moving forward, the Sanya Tourism Board intends not only to conduct marketing activities in countries and regions along the Silk Road but also to explore inbound tourism markets through visits to the Middle East, Europe, Japan, South Korea, and beyond, aiming to attract more overseas tourists to Sanya and catalyze the accelerated growth of the inbound tourism sector.
