SAS’ recently overhauled mobile application has clinched the esteemed iF Design Gold Award, spotlighting its exceptional design prowess. Prior to this accolade, the app had already earned acclaim with both the Webby Award and the Red Dot Award, solidifying its standing as a beacon of excellence in design innovation.

Having been in circulation for over a decade and utilized by millions of travelers annually, the SAS app underwent a transformation in 2022 with a primary focus on enhancing the customer experience. Developed in collaboration with SAS’ clientele, ongoing feedback from end-users remains pivotal to its evolution. The revamped version of the app was unveiled towards the close of 2022, boasting a myriad of enhancements including a more streamlined booking process, personalized travel recommendations, real-time flight updates, and seamless access to boarding passes and travel essentials. Additionally, it boasts upgraded navigation and a visually captivating interface that mirrors SAS’ contemporary brand aesthetic.

“We are thrilled to receive not only an iF Design Award but a gold iF Design award for our app. This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to customer-centric design and relentless pursuit of innovation. It confirms our dedication to improving user experiences and pushing the boundaries of possibility in the digital landscape,” says Pascotto Massimo, Head of Digital Customer Solutions.

The “iF Design Award” is an internationally renowned accolade presented annually by the iF International Forum Design GmbH, headquartered in Hannover, Germany. Established in 1953, it stands as one of the most prestigious design competitions globally, recognizing exceptional achievements across various design domains. Winning an iF Design Award is esteemed within the design community, symbolizing excellence and innovation.

The revamped SAS app exceeds expectations by offering a comprehensive user experience. In an era where travelers increasingly rely on electronic ticketing and boarding passes, airlines must ensure their apps are intuitive, reliable, and responsive. Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian design principles of simplicity and minimalism, SAS has crafted an app poised to reassure even the most harried traveler.
