Saudi Arabia organized the formal opening of the 116th UNWTO Executive Council Meeting. It is a dominant vehicle that assemblesthe tourism leaders of the worldfor shaping the future of the tourism sector.


The First Vice Chair of the UNWTO Executive Council, His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb conversed with the global leaders regarding tourism becoming an integral part of a durable and more ecological world. Al Khateeburged for greater partnershipfor speeding up the tourism sector’s recovery.


Ahmed Al Khateeb,the Saudi ArabiaMinister of Tourism said that tourism is an important driver of progression, prospect, and development, and at the moment, we are at global intersection. The tourism sector is able to give rise to 58 million jobs this year, to reach over 330 million, which is only 1% lowerthan the pre-pandemic levels. This can only be realized with a strong management, a clear visualization along with resources.


Al Khateebadded that tourism’s resumption in many countries globally offers anexclusive chance to reconsiderthe power of tourism, communications and more. He said that there is an incredible prospect to set a new approachin the coming days, to create a robust future for the world tourism sector, and there is need to grab this prospect.


Accepting the meeting agenda, member states greeted the report on the current inclinations in global tourism provided by the Secretary-General of the UNWTO ZurabPololikashvili together withthe UNWTO monitoring reports and tools established since the occurrence of the pandemic.
