Saudi Arabia launches Expo 2025 pavilion in Osaka, highlighting its rich culture, history, and commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Saudi Arabia has taken a pioneering step by initiating the construction of its pavilion, celebrated through a ceremonial event yesterday at the Expo’s dedicated location on Yumeshima Island.

The design of the Saudi pavilion draws inspiration from the nation’s traditional urban landscapes, illustrating its rich history, cultural depth, and heritage. This is paired with an eco-friendly architecture that reflects Saudi Arabia’s forward-looking initiatives and dedication to a collective future.

The event was spearheaded by Othman Almazyad, the appointed Commissioner General for the Saudi Arabia Expo 2025 Osaka, along with Eng. Firas AlTurki, who oversees the construction activities of the Saudi pavilion in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

Othman Almazyad commented on the pavilion’s aim to represent the blend of unique heritage, traditions, and principles that are central to Saudi Arabia’s identity. He highlighted the nation’s ancient roots and its dynamic progress under Vision 2030 towards economic and societal advancements. Almazyad emphasized the commitment to environmental conservation, which will be demonstrated through the pavilion’s commitment to sustainable building practices, ensuring a promising future.

The pavilion is set to incorporate advanced sustainable technologies, utilizing renewable resources and a design that minimizes environmental impact. Its aim is to meet the highest standards of Japan’s green building certification and achieve a Net Zero Operational Carbon goal by employing eco-friendly materials, energy efficiency measures, rainwater harvesting, solar power generation, and a design that allows for future dismantling and reuse.

This announcement came after a cultural gala dinner in Osaka on November 15, 2023, attended by delegates from Japan, Saudi Arabia, and other nations participating in Expo 2025 Osaka, to unveil the design and identity of the Saudi pavilion.

Scheduled to open in April 2025, Expo 2025 Osaka is expected to bring together over 160 countries and organizations, focusing on ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’ with sub-themes emphasizing life preservation, empowerment, and connectivity. The Expo is anticipated to attract more than 28 million visitors to Osaka.
