In May 2024, Jeffrey “Jeff” Blosser declared his plans to retire from his position as president and CEO of the Seattle Convention Center (SCC) after more than 12 years of dedicated service. Reflecting on his tenure, Blosser expressed gratitude for leading the Washington State Convention Center Public Facilities District, widely recognized as the Seattle Convention Center, and viewed it as a fulfilling conclusion to his 45-year career in venue management.
With the successful opening of the Summit building, poised to attract a consistent stream of event business to the city, Blosser deemed the timing opportune to hand over the reins. His noteworthy achievements, including overseeing the launch of a new facility, navigating operations through a pandemic, contributing to various industry boards, and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Venue Managers, have solidified his legacy. Blosser’s ability to balance business interests and foster a culture of engagement with staff further enhances his reputation.
Board Chair Frank Finneran acknowledged Blosser’s exceptional leadership, emphasizing his pivotal role in the substantial growth of the Center. The Board of Directors at SCC is currently exploring potential structures and management models for the organization. Simultaneously, a nationwide search is underway to identify suitable candidates to assume the CEO role in the wake of Blosser’s retirement.
