Scoot, a budget affiliate of Singapore Airlines, announced the introduction of six Southeast Asian routes to be serviced by its newly acquired Embraer E190-E2 planes. The lineup includes fresh destinations such as Koh Samui and Sibu, along with established routes to Malaysian and Thai locales like Hat Yai, Kuantan, Krabi, and Miri.
The launch of E190-E2 flights by Scoot is slated for May 2024, following the April arrival of the first out of nine planes from Embraer’s São José dos Campos factory in Brazil.
These new aircraft will facilitate direct services between Singapore and various cities, enhancing the SIA Group’s network and its capacity to connect non-major cities in Southeast Asia. This expansion aims to bolster the connectivity through Singapore, leveraging Scoot’s extensive route network.
Dubbed Explorer 3.0, the inaugural E2 jet is expected in Singapore by April 2024. From 7 May 2024, it will commence operations for existing routes to Krabi and Hat Yai, raising the weekly flights to these destinations from seven to ten.
A second E2 jet, also arriving in April 2024, will enable Scoot to add flights to Koh Samui, Kuantan, Miri, and Sibu. Daily flights to Koh Samui start on 13 May 2024, with plans to double the service by early June. This second aircraft will also increase the frequency of flights to Miri and Kuantan, as well as initiate services to Sibu, broadening Scoot’s weekly flights to Malaysia and Thailand significantly by June 2024.
The inclusion of Koh Samui and Sibu elevates Scoot’s total destinations to 69, further solidifying its role in regional connectivity and affirming Singapore’s status as a key hub.
Bookings for the E190-E2 flights will gradually become available on Scoot’s digital platforms, offering competitive all-inclusive economy fares to the new destinations.
Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion and the pivotal role it plays in the growth of Scoot and the SIA Group, as well as their continued efforts to enhance regional connectivity.
He also highlighted the fleet expansion as a testament to their optimism about the future of air travel in the region and their commitment to providing great value to more destinations.
