The Sedona International Film Festival (SIFF) had humble beginnings, sparked by the inspiration of four visionary women—Marion Herrman, Lori Seymour, Pinky Greenberg, and Shirlin Hyatt—whose encounter with the Sundance festival ignited a determination to create something remarkable. What emerged from their passion is now a globally acclaimed event, the highlight of Sedona’s cultural calendar, and the largest annual gathering in the community.

In 2024, SIFF proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary with a dazzling array of over 140 films showcased across nine days, from February 24th to March 3rd. Executive Director Pat Schweiss exudes pride in the festival’s draw, as attendees flock from all corners to experience Sedona’s unique blend of Red Rocks and Red Carpet glamour. Offering a diverse selection ranging from feature films to documentaries, animation to foreign cinema, SIFF has become a haven for cinephiles worldwide.

This year’s milestone celebration sees over 1,500 film submissions meticulously reviewed by selection committees. Among the highlights are world premieres like “Rules of Living,” a heartwarming romantic comedy depicting the struggles of a multicultural couple destined to be together yet torn apart. The festival kicks off with “7000 Miles,” featuring Wendie Malick, a poignant tale of love, friendship, and self-discovery set halfway across the globe.

At its core, the Sedona Film Festival is a celebration—of filmmakers, of cinema, and of shared experiences. Attendees can partake in special events like the “45th Anniversary Grease Sing-Along,” featuring director Randal Kleiser as an honored guest. As the festival draws to a close, a free concert by indie-pop sensation “The Walters” ensures a lively finale, leaving lasting memories of joy and camaraderie in its wake.

“Audiences have praised us as one of their favorite festivals,” Schweiss said. “We remain committed to the heart and soul of independent film and the filmmakers who bring their vision and their voice alive on the screen.”
