Seoul Mayor reveals ‘Smart Life Week’ plan at CES 2024

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended the La French Tech booth at CES 2024, engaging in discussions with the representative to explore mutual perspectives and potential collaborations.

At the ‘Seoul Innovation Forum 2024’ in Las Vegas, Mayor Oh Se-hoon introduced ‘Seoul Smart Life Week,’ a three-year initiative outlined in the city’s roadmap. This plan leverages Seoul’s smart city network to globally promote innovative tech companies and set trends in future technology.

‘Seoul Smart Life Week (Exhibition + Awards + Forum)’ is scheduled for October 7th to 9th at COEX this year. The city aims to build on its global recognition as a leading smart city, creating pathways for innovative companies, attracting investments, and establishing a global business platform.

The roadmap focuses on showcasing Seoul’s smart city solutions, fostering sales for tech companies, and facilitating the exchange of technological trends. ‘Seoul Smart Life Week’ aims to evolve into a global hub for innovative technologies, with thematic exhibitions aligned with the latest trends, attracting participants from businesses, governments, and organizations.

The roadmap highlights the activation of the city government network, expanding the exchange of innovative products, and presenting a vision for the future smart city. The goal is to establish ‘Smart Leading City Seoul’ as a global convention for exchanging cutting-edge smart city technologies.

In the upcoming years, the event will expand in size and scope, aiming to provide a comprehensive experience of smart city life. By 2031, the city plans to use the Jamsil Sports•MICE Complex as a premier platform for sharing future smart life technologies globally.

Mayor Oh Se-hoon expressed his ambition to showcase Seoul’s innovation ecosystem through ‘Seoul Smart Life Week’ and challenge its growth within three years. The promotion of the event at CES aligns with the city’s commitment to using technology for vulnerable groups and lifestyle improvements.

During his CES visit, Mayor Oh promoted Seoul Smart Life Week to government and business representatives, exploring ways to incorporate global innovative technology in line with the city’s policies. He visited various booths, showcasing innovative technologies, including award-winning products from Korean startups and international companies.

The mayor’s group toured the LVCC Central and West Halls, exploring key technologies related to smart cities, healthcare, environmental solutions, lifestyle, and mobility. The focus was on collaboration opportunities to support the growth of Seoul-based companies globally.

Mayor Oh’s meetings with industry leaders and exploration of innovative technologies aimed to position Seoul as a crucial hub for emerging industries. The city seeks to support sustainable technological development and create new economic avenues through initiatives like ‘Seoul Smart Life Week.’
