Adverse weather caused nationwide flight disruptions, with 11 cancellations and 2 diversions, impacting Pakistan’s aviation.
Inclement weather conditions resulted in the cancellation of 11 domestic flights across Pakistan, with the re-routing of two flights to alternative airports.
Aviation authorities disclosed a total of 770 flight cancellations and 200 diversions that occurred in the month of January, primarily attributed to heavy fog.
The Riyadh to Lahore flight, designated as PK-726, underwent a change in its planned route, ultimately touching down in Islamabad at 5:35 pm. In addition to this, four Islamabad to Gilgit flights (PK-601, PK-602, PK-605, PK-606) were regrettably canceled.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) grappled with cancellations affecting Islamabad to Skardu flights (PK-451, PK-452) and Karachi to Quetta flights (PK-310, PK-311), along with the disruption of Islamabad to Karachi flight PK-208. Lahore to Quetta flights (PK-322, PK-323) were also among the impacted routes.
Furthermore, two foreign airline flights originating from Peshawar en route to Doha had to be canceled. Additionally, 25 flights departing from various cities, including Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Multan, experienced delays.
