Signature Aviation, the world’s premier private aviation terminal operator, has joined forces with BETA Technologies, Inc., a pioneering electric aerospace company, to deploy BETA’s cutting-edge electric charging infrastructure at various locations along the east coast’s airports. The inaugural multimodal, interoperable charging station, designed by BETA, is now operational at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. Additionally, two more agreements have been finalized, with ongoing discussions for further installations. BETA’s chargers are engineered to be multimodal and interoperable, adhering to international standards to ensure seamless compatibility with BETA’s electric aircraft, as well as other electric aircraft models and ground EVs. These chargers serve as a unified solution for both air and ground-based electric vehicles, catering to existing fleets and upcoming models.

This technological advancement establishes a crucial groundwork for integrated operations, enabling Signature to embrace the burgeoning electric transportation market, encompassing electric aircraft and ground EVs alike. This modernization effort is essential for enabling the future of aviation operations, serving Signature’s worldwide clientele and beyond.

“We are thrilled to further solidify our partnership with BETA, which underscores our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of aviation through our sustainability initiatives in Signature Renew,” said Derek DeCross, Chief Commercial Officer for Signature Aviation. “Today’s announcement is indicative of a transformative time for Signature, with our recent visual identity update focused on delivering innovative hospitality across every element of the guest journey. Together with BETA, we’re not only creating greater access to electric aviation but also unlocking new possibilities in regional air mobility for our guests, all while championing sustainability and innovation in the aviation industry.”

“As one of the leading private terminal operators anywhere in the world, Signature takes a forward-leaning approach to best serve their broad base of aviators,” said Nate Ward, BETA’s Head of Network Development. “We’re excited to partner with Signature as they prepare for what comes next, and install infrastructure to enable modernization as aviation continues to evolve. BETA has long been focused on building a reliable, accessible network of chargers for aircraft, and this collaboration represents another important pathway toward scaling our network.”

In addition to their public-access charger at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), Signature and BETA are set to install more chargers at Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK) and Charlottesville–Albemarle Airport (CHO). The chargers at FDK and CHO are scheduled to be operational by this summer. Both companies are also looking into other potential sites to further expand their partnership in the coming times.

“Manchester is emerging as one of the top high-tech hubs in the Northeast, and we are honored that Manchester-Boston Regional Airport was chosen as Signature and BETA’s first operational electric aviation site,” said MHT Airport Director Ted Kitchens, A.A.E. “This interoperable charging station will help enable Manchester and southern New Hampshire to have better access to electric aviation, which will bring us better regional air mobility as we move into this exciting new era of electric transportation.”

In light of Signature’s recent rebranding efforts, today’s announcement marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to foster safe, seamless, and exceptional experiences worldwide. This evolution of the brand underscores a steadfast dedication to innovation and improving guest connections with a forward-thinking approach. The latest news builds upon Signature’s recent and forthcoming sustainability achievements, including its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across its network starting in 2022, the milestone of pumping 25 million gallons of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in 2023, and the imminent introduction of the industry’s inaugural electric refueler at its Vail location.

Additionally, these Signature locations are now part of BETA’s expanding network of chargers throughout the United States. Currently, BETA has activated multimodal and interoperable chargers in 19 locations, with 50 more sites either in the permitting stage or under construction. The BETA network, spanning from Vermont to Florida and across to Arkansas, includes chargers acquired by the Department of Defense, regional and state-owned airports, electric aircraft developers, and FBOs. Several of these locations have been employed by BETA to recharge its all-electric ALIA aircraft during extensive cross-country trips. This includes a remarkable 2,400-mile journey from Plattsburgh, New York, to Eglin, Florida, undertaken for a three-month deployment with the U.S. Air Force.

Together, Signature and BETA are facilitating access to electric aviation. With its reduced operational energy costs and net-zero emissions, electric aviation holds the potential to revolutionize regional air mobility and unlock new possibilities for efficient cargo transportation and community connectivity.
