Sikkim proposes six heliports with added facilities to boost tourism

To encourage tourism in the state, the Sikkim government has suggested the construction of six heliports with enhanced facilities.


According to ML Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism, a 12-seater helicopter for hire is also in the works.


“We have been focusing lately on communication so that our guests (tourists) have a memorable stay. We have proposed 6 Heliports with added facilities. And a 12-seater helicopter on lease is in the offing,” he said.


He added that the Centre is very positive about linking Pakyong airport to Kathmandu and Dhaka.


He announced the conversion of 17 Tourist Information Centres (TICs) into facilitation centers.


A proposal to build 1000 Mega Homestays at a cost of Rs 521 crores has also been initiated which will also help to boost the rural economy.
