Singapore and China’s 30-day visa waiver sparks travel boom, with bookings soaring and mutual interest peaking. A new tourism era begins.

The recent unveiling of a policy allowing for a 30-day visa exemption for travel between Singapore and China has led to a significant uptick in travel interest between the nations. Data from Trip.com Group reveals that, within an hour of the policy’s disclosure, the volume of searches for travel options to Singapore on our Chinese platform increased by more than fourteen times. This enthusiasm is mutual, with the number of searches for China from Singapore seeing a similar thirteenfold rise within the same timeframe. Additionally, there’s been a noticeable increase in bookings, with travel reservations from Singapore to China experiencing a 66% rise in month-over-month bookings since the beginning of January. For the Spring Festival this year, the volume of bookings made by Chinese travelers to Singapore has surged, exceeding last year’s figures by more than fourteen times.

In response to this surge in demand, we are initiating a trial for an enhanced hotel check-in process, aiming to streamline the experience by sharing arrival information with selected hotels. This surge in interest marks the beginning of a renewed phase in tourism and economic exchanges between Singapore and China. We are excited about the role we will play in supporting this growth, ensuring that travelers can explore both destinations with greater ease and enjoyment.
