Six Senses, South Carolina Islands

Set to debut in 2026, a groundbreaking eco-friendly resort, spa, and living community named Six Senses South Carolina Islands is poised to grace the picturesque coastline of South Carolina, encompassing the idyllic locales of Hilton Head Island, Daufuskie Island, and Bay Point Island. This innovative destination, situated a mere stone’s throw from the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, heralds a significant milestone, thanks to a collaborative hotel management pact sealed by Timothy Pitcher, Whitestone’s President, alongside Redrock Portfolio, Inc., and spearheaded by Six Senses executives Neil Jacobs and Omar Romero. This partnership, flourishing over several years, signifies a promising new era.

Hilton Head Island

Celebrated as America’s most beloved island for the seventh consecutive year in the 2023 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, Hilton Head Island dazzles with its quaint ambiance, meandering tidal creeks, pristine beaches, and a sanctuary for wildlife. It’s designed to be the primary entryway to the resort and residences, featuring a unique restaurant and retail space. As the launchpad to aquatic life, it offers a seamless transition for guests and residents to board eco-friendly yachts or boats, embarking on a scenic journey along the Intercoastal Waterway.

Daufuskie Island

Marked by its commitment to environmental sustainability, Daufuskie Island stands as South Carolina’s southernmost populated sea island, boasting a unique blend of secluded beaches and rich cultural tapestry. At the heart of the Six Senses South Carolina Islands’ 460-acre project is the principle of regeneration, shaping the blueprint for its accommodations, beachfront cottages, and forest retreats.

This exclusive community will feature a selection of branded residences, from cozy two-bedroom homes to expansive five-bedroom estates, all benefiting from the resort’s comprehensive amenities and personalized guest services. Culinary experiences will range from an all-day dining venue to a boutique eatery, complemented by a beach club and various dining options, all emphasizing regional, seasonal ingredients.

Guests can dive into a variety of activities, from water sports and cultural exploration to enjoying the local art scene. The resort will also offer a fully integrated farm and a top-tier golf course, among other attractions, ensuring a rich tapestry of experiences.

The Six Senses Spa will offer a holistic journey towards wellness, integrating modern science with ancient practices through yoga, meditation, and customized wellness programs, underscoring the resort’s commitment to both guest and community well-being.

Bay Point Island

Whitestone’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship has solidified its eco-conscious reputation, paving the way for Six Senses to join forces in nurturing a community dedicated to conserving the island’s unique ecosystems for future generations.

Bay Point Island will introduce a series of modular, hurricane-resistant villas designed with a “Southern Island Coastal” flair, featuring cutting-edge sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy solutions, and minimal environmental impact construction techniques. These villas, available for purchase in 2024, promise a serene, year-round retreat, embodying the essence of sustainable luxury and communal harmony.

Celebrating the partnership, Timothy Pitcher, President of Whitestone, commented, “Whitestone strives to nurture and celebrate the critical connection between the human experience and the ecosystems that sustain us. The thrill of innovation resonates in every thought and design as we weave a canvas that intertwines regenerative luxury with the roots of our existence. This project is a celebration of Six Senses and Whitestone’s shared vision to seamlessly blend integrated wellness with the untamed beauty of the natural world, redefine living spaces with a commitment to ecological mindfulness, quite literally sowing the seeds of a new era.”

“After a few years in the making, we’re delighted and excited to be partnering with Whitestone and Redrock in the creation of two special connected communities that speak to the beauty of their environments and honor the people and culture of the area,” said Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs. “We have the right elements and energy in place to marry these incredible coastal landscapes with a wellness and sustainability formula that rewilds people back to a connection with nature, each other, and ultimately themselves.”
