The vigilant Ski Patrol team of the Himachal Tourism Department saved a snowboarder from Himachal Pradesh who had a fractured ankle and had got trapped in the upper stretches of Gulmarg hills due to windy weather conditions.

The Ski Patrol squad of the Himachal Tourism Department is positioned in the higher altitudes of Gulmarg resort. They ensure the security and saving of skiers. The team received a radio call from a skier, who informed them that a lady snowboarder has got trapped nearby.

The weather was fairly stormy. However, in spite of that, the three member Ski Patrol team embarked in the difficult assignment along with a Toboggan and other important first aid stuff. Soon, a prompt saving plan was initiated by the Ski Patrol members. The snowboarder was seated in the Toboggan, and was given first aid instantaneously and thereafter sent to hospital for additional treatment.

In another comparable incident early this month, the Ski Patrol team had saved a Norwegian skier when he had misplaced his ski track and landed on an incorrect track.

The Ski Patrol team of the Himachal Tourism Department is a crew of Avalanche Forecasters comprising well-instructed Ski guides with intelligence in appropriate rescue. The team provides information regarding regular snowfall and landslide probabilities for the skiers for making skiing in Gulmarg smooth and risk-free for all skiers.
