Today marks the commencement of the Festival of Mountain Resorts of Eurasia in Sochi, an event orchestrated by the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts (EAMC). This festival, which heralds the first gathering under the EAMC’s banner, is set to enrich travel and tourism through a blend of professional discourse, cultural, and educational activities. Celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Sochi Olympics, this event aims to unite ski industry professionals from across Eurasia, offering a platform for exchange and collaboration that promises to elevate the travel experience in the region’s mountain resorts.

The festival kicks off with a focus on sustainable travel, initiating discussions on the sustainable development of tourism in specially protected areas (SPNA). These conversations will navigate through the complexities of industry policy, the unique challenges faced by different nations, and the strategies for the development of tourism infrastructure within protected landscapes. By examining the synergy between environmental conservation and tourism development, the forum seeks to carve out paths for responsible travel that respects natural habitats while enriching the tourism industry.

The festival’s agenda extends into practical demonstrations and roundtable discussions, including a showcase of skiing expertise by instructors from various Eurasian mountain resorts. A round table dedicated to the “Joint development of mountain tourism in Eurasian countries” will explore avenues for cooperation and address the challenges of inter-country collaboration in the travel industry. Furthermore, the festival will feature interactive lectures aimed at enhancing the competencies and marketing strategies of tourism professionals, thereby contributing to the growth and dynamism of the travel and tourism sector in Eurasia.

In addition to the professional dialogues, the festival is set to host a series of thematic master classes, presentations, and a culinary festival celebrating the diverse cuisines of Eurasian countries. These events underscore the EAMC’s commitment to fostering a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the cultural and natural wealth of Eurasian mountain regions among travel enthusiasts and industry stakeholders alike.

As the festival concludes, participants from member countries will reflect on the achievements and outline future strategies for the alliance. With the participation of around 150 guests from across Eurasia, the event epitomizes the spirit of cooperation and shared ambition that defines the EAMC. Founded in June 2023 with the aim of advancing mountain tourism and promoting active lifestyles, the alliance stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts to enhance the travel and tourism industry within the Eurasian region.
