Starting on July 1, international visitors will be allowed to enter the Solomon Islands once again, more than two years after closing its borders.

Domestic restrictions have been relaxed since June 1.

The government has stated that all foreign travelers will now require a six-day post-arrival quarantine period beginning this month.

Until recently, each country’s presence had required.

Children who are unable to receive vaccinations may be exempt from the requirement, and a review of the vaccination schedule will be completed by the end of July.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare indicated that they may yet retain a shorter quarantine period of three days following the full reopening of our borders on July 1.

For returning nationals, the government is also promoting at-home quarantine and restricting quarantine facilities to returning nationals who are unable to do so. Quarantine stays in hotels are expected to be paid for by foreign nationals who lack quarantine facilities at their home.

Like other airlines, Solomon Airlines has begun planning for higher traffic and expects a gradual recovery of an industry that has been struggling.

International cargo ships, huge social gatherings like weddings and athletic events, and nightclubs will all be exempt from the new limitations that take effect on June 1st.

As a first step, the domestic timetable will be changed effective June 6 to accommodate the arrival of the Brisbane-Honiara service on Friday and to ensure that additional capacity is available on domestic routes such as Munda, Gizo, Auki, and Santa Cruz.

Flights to Fiji, which were restored globally in December 2021 and welcomed over 46,000 guests this April, may also be reinstated by the airline.

Currently, commercial flights between Honiara, Port Vila, and Tarawa are not possible because of border restrictions in Vanuatu and Kiribati.

However, we are looking forward to restarting flights soon.
