Majorca tourism sector faces another tough summer as declining visitor numbers and lower spending force restaurants and clubs to cut services and shorten seasons.
Majorca tourism sector is preparing for another difficult summer in 2025, with expectations of fewer visitors and significantly reduced tourist spending.

Businesses dependent on tourism, including restaurants and nightclubs, are anticipating a season much like 2024, when a noticeable drop in consumer activity took a toll on revenue. Many establishments reported a 20% decline in turnover last year, largely attributed to rising accommodation and travel costs. With no sign of economic improvement, operators are being forced to make difficult decisions to remain viable.
Restaurants are responding by maintaining price stability in hopes of encouraging spending and avoiding further drops in consumption. March 2025 delivered lackluster results, particularly in Alcudia and Playa de Muro, where earnings reportedly dropped by 50% compared to March 2024.

Nightlife venues are also adjusting their approach. After a failed attempt to extend the season in 2024, clubs are now planning a shorter operational window, from May 15 to mid-September, based on a more conservative forecast.
Despite Majorca recording high tourist numbers last year, many local bars and restaurants struggled to sustain operations, with some forced to reduce hours or close early due to the financial strain.
