SpiceJet’s Pune-Dubai Delays Spark Passenger Outrage

Frequent SpiceJet delays on Pune-Dubai route lead travelers to opt for Mumbai flights and road trips to Pune; recent flights face significant delays.

Consistent postponements of SpiceJet’s service connecting Pune and Dubai in both directions have prompted many regular travelers to choose flights to Mumbai instead, followed by a road journey to Pune. On Saturday night, the Dubai to Pune flight (SG-52) experienced a significant delay of six hours, causing inconvenience to over 100 passengers. Originally planned to depart from Dubai at approximately 11:05pm, the flight eventually took off at about 5:03am the following Sunday morning.

Similarly, the Pune to Dubai flight (SG-51), scheduled to leave Pune at 8pm on Saturday, was delayed until 2:02am on Sunday. Gazal M, awaiting the Dubai flight, expressed frustration, noting that many colleagues had opted for an Emirates flight to Mumbai and a subsequent road trip to Pune. They had cautioned Gazal about SpiceJet’s habitual delays, and their experience confirmed these warnings. Disappointed with the airline’s lack of consideration for passengers, Gazal vowed to avoid this flight in the future.

Under normal circumstances, the Pune to Dubai flight would have arrived by 9:55pm on Saturday, and the Dubai to Pune flight would have reached its destination by 3:40am. However, due to the delays, the Dubai-bound flight landed around 9am on Sunday, and the Pune-bound flight arrived at 3:30am. Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 indicated regular delays for this airline on this route.

Addressing the issue, a spokesperson for SpiceJet commented that Flight SG-52 from Dubai to Pune was rescheduled because of operational reasons. The aircraft assigned to this flight had been redirected earlier due to adverse weather, leading to subsequent delays in its schedule.
