Spring blooms: Experience the 2024 Snowdrop Festival at Cambo Estate

Cambo estate, where this annual snowdrop extravaganza originated, proudly houses the UK’s Plant Heritage national collection of snowdrops. Thanks to the unwavering dedication of the Erskine family, particularly Catherine Erskine, who has meticulously preserved and expanded the snowdrop varieties over generations, Cambo has become a haven for enthusiasts, known as ‘galanthophiles’. Nestled within the estate lies Cambo House, the ancestral home of the Erskine family since the late 1600s. Still a cherished family residence for James Erskine and his kin, the house also opens its doors for private hire, hosting weddings, celebrations, and corporate events year-round. This year, as part of the Snowdrop Festival and for the first time in over seven years, Cambo House will welcome visitors for a limited time, offering tours that delve into its rich history and the experience of life within its walls, complemented by refreshments.

In keeping with the theme of snowdrops and hope, visitors can also enjoy a complimentary art exhibition at Cambo House, showcasing works by artists from Myanmar, curated by James Erskine. This exhibition serves as a poignant reminder of the power of art to inspire hope in communities affected by conflict.

During the festival, Cambo House will host themed events, including an enlightening talk by Michael Myers, one of Scotland’s foremost snowdrop experts.

In addition to exploring Cambo House, visitors can wander through Cambo Gardens, indulge in the delights of the award-winning cafe and gift shop, or embark on magical woodland walks leading to Kingsbarns beach. For those seeking relaxation, there’s the option to book a session in the beach sauna or participate in outdoor skills and movement classes with WildStrong, promoting wellbeing through nature. The estate is also home to Kingsbarns Distillery, offering whisky and gin tours with tastings, and Kingsbarns Golf Links, a globally acclaimed course open from March to November.
