Beginning in Mumbai on February 9th with OTM and continuing its allure to New Delhi on February 20th, 2024, with SATTE, this event guarantees to showcase the finest of Sri Lanka, alluring visitors with the resonant tagline, “Sri Lanka – You’ll Come Back for More.”

Emerging from a successful year that saw over 1.4 million tourist arrivals by December 2023, this roadshow exemplifies Sri Lanka’s dedication to recovery since 2019. Designed to engage Tour Operators, Media, Key Influencers, Corporates, MICE Agents, Trade Associations, and others within the Indian tourism community, the event emphasizes that Sri Lanka is not just a destination but a beckoning sanctuary of safety, beauty, and endless attractions for both leisure and business travelers.

Supported by industry leaders such as Sri Lankan Airlines, Indigo Spice Jet, Air India & Vistara, the roadshow features insightful Business Networking Evenings, fostering invaluable partnerships. The event aims to reshape perceptions, showcasing Sri Lanka’s diverse attractions and cultural treasures under the inviting tagline.

Indian Tourist Arrivals: Shaping History, Inspiring Tomorrow

India has long been a crucial source of tourism for Sri Lanka, with 302,844 tourists visiting in 2023, comprising 20% of total arrivals.In 2024, around 40,000 tourists have already visited Sri Lanka, positively impacting the country’s economy.
Beyond attracting tourists, this initiative aims to revitalize Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, contributing to the nation’s economic resurgence.

Sri Lanka Tourism promises the ultimate tourist experience and assures Indian tourists and investors that the country is open for business, with all necessary measures taken to ensure the safety and security of all visitors for leisure and business.

Key Highlights:

In January 2024, the number of Indian tourists visiting Sri Lanka increased by over 100%, rising from 13,759 (January 2023) to 34,399.
Discussions are underway regarding the use of Indian Rupees (INR) for transactions in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan citizens are now permitted to hold INR equivalent to $10,000 in physical form, facilitating transactions and trade between the two countries.

Sri Lankans and Indians alike can now use Indian rupees rather than U.S. dollars for international transactions, signaling a notable advancement in bilateral trade.
This makes Sri Lanka the third country, after Nepal and Bhutan, where INR can be freely used, underlining the country’s growing significance in regional economic dynamics.
Renowned for its rich cultural heritage and diverse natural landscapes, Sri Lanka offers ancient temples, historical sites, wildlife reserves, and pristine beaches.
