Similarly, flights UL 141 and UL 143 from Colombo to Mumbai will depart at 23:45hrs and 17:10hrs, respectively. Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Worldwide Sales and Distribution at SriLankan Airlines, expressed, “The Indian market has been crucial for SriLankan Airlines from the outset, and with India emerging as one of the world’s largest outbound travel markets, we are delighted to extend our operations in Mumbai and facilitate smoother travel between Mumbai and Colombo. Our increased frequency coincides with Sri Lanka’s announcement of free visas for Indian visitors, and we anticipate that these positive developments will encourage more travelers from Mumbai to explore Sri Lanka.”
India stands out as the only country with nine cities included in SriLankan Airlines’ network, encompassing Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Trivandrum, Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, and Mumbai. The airline currently operates nearly 100 flights per week to these destinations. Given the geographical and cultural affinity between the two countries, Sri Lanka offers a familiar and welcoming experience for most Indians. SriLankan Airlines’ exceptional service in the region received recognition at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) in Bangalore, India, where the airline was honored with the titles of Leading International Airline – South Asia and Leading Airline Class – Business Class.
