The third G-20 Working Group meeting on Tourism under India’s presidency will be held in Srinagar between May 22 and May 24. Following the meeting, the international delegates will be taken on a sightseeing trip of the Gulmarg ski resort.

Notably, numerous participants from guest nations and international agencies will attend the G-20 tourism meeting.

Following the repeal of Article 370, as peace and normality were restored in J&K, the number of tourists visiting Kashmir grew, since it is regarded as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world for environment and eco-tourism, cultural tourism, sports and tracking tourism.

This time, one of the key events on the sidelines of the G-20 tourism meeting will focus on film tourism. One of the concepts behind the film tourism event is to highlight the shooting options to visiting delegates, with an emphasis on single-window clearance and other services for international film crews. This would boost tourism and open up new commercial prospects.

The hosting of the third G-20 tourism summit in Srinagar is very significant for the Union Territory. It would be the first major international event in Jammu and Kashmir since the Centre repealed Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted the erstwhile state special status, and divided it into two UTs, J&K and Ladakh, in order to improve governance and administrative efficiency while also ensuring faster development.

The inaugural tourism working group meeting, held in February at the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, focused on rural tourism and archaeological tourism through tours and side activities. The second meeting, held in April in Siliguri, West Bengal, focused on adventure tourism.

The fourth meeting would be held in Goa. Following the Goa ministerial meeting, an official Goa plan will be released, which will include a common vision for the G-20 tourism working group’s policy making and action.
