Staycity Group, a prominent European aparthotel operator, is expanding its upscale Wilde Aparthotels brand into France for the first time, as part of an innovative project led by the Apsys group in Bordeaux’s Canopia district.
The Canopia development, spanning 70,000m2, is a mixed-use space envisioned by the renowned French architectural firm Maison Edouard François. Emphasizing sustainability and seamless indoor/outdoor living, it will feature commercial, leisure, and residential areas. A central feature is the meridian, a pedestrian-friendly path adorned with 235 trees, connecting the train station to the Garonne River. At the river’s edge, a two-hectare park will replace part of the current motorway interchange.
Within this dynamic landscape, the Wilde Aparthotel will comprise 113 apartments, designed by Apsys, boasting luxurious amenities such as a rooftop restaurant, bar, guest lounge, laundry facilities, luggage storage, and a 24-hour reception. Completion is slated for 2026.
“We are excited to be working alongside Apsys as part of this project in the beautiful and popular city of Bordeaux,” commented Staycity Group development director Barry Hickey. “We have successfully operated aparthotels in a number of French cities for several years now, and remain keen to expand our estate further in France, as well as in other key destinations across Europe.”
Staycity manages close to 6,000 apartments spread across 32 destinations in five European countries, including six locations in France. These French sites are situated in Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, and three in Paris.
