Today, the 2023 Economic Impact Research of WTTC disclosed that the Travel & Tourism sector of Canada continues to show powerful signs of post-pandemic revival.
As per the recent EIR, the Canada tourism sector is all prepared to contribute $162.6 billion to the economy of the country in 2023 which went up 17.2% from 2022 and within touching distance of the earlier hitting the highest point in 2019 with $173.9 billion.
Also, WTTC is predicting that Canada tourism will generate 90,000 jobs in 2023, making almost all the jobs better that got lost due to the pandemic to reach 1.64 million. Also, employment levels are within touching distance of the high point of 2019.
The contribution of the GDP of the Travel & Tourism sector in 2022 grew by 41.4% to reach over $138 billion. This would represent 5% of the economy of Canada, with one in every 20 dollars created by tourism in Canada.
Also, the sector in 2022 created 169,000 additional jobs from the year before to reach 1.55 million jobs countrywide, one in 13 jobs all over Canada.
Now, the sector has revived 124,000 of the 283,500 jobs that got lost during COVID.
Also, in 2022, the return of foreign travelers to Canada was seen. As a result, spending from foreign visitors increased by 64% and reach almost $23 billion.
