Topping the list is the Capella Bangkok, a standout among the city’s new riverside resorts that has elevated Bangkok’s luxury hospitality scene. Each room boasts views of the Chao Praya River, complemented by dining options like Mauro Colagreco’s French gastronomic restaurant and the popular waterfront venue, Phra Nakhon, renowned for its vibrant brunch atmosphere. The lushly landscaped pool area creates an inviting escape reminiscent of Thailand’s islands.

The selection process for the World’s Best Hotels is subjective, relying on a panel of 600 anonymous jurors who rank their top seven hotel experiences from the past 18 months. This system tends to favor accessible, urban destinations and newer hotels with robust marketing strategies. The influence of promotional trips can lead to a skewed voter pool, often sidelining remote properties that require more specialized travel.

Notable entries this year included resorts like Kokomo Private Island in Fiji (No. 50) and Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman (No. 45), both of which highlight the growing recognition of unique travel experiences. The awards ceremony held in London featured new categories, with Raffles London at the OWO, Aman, and Atlantis the Royal receiving honors for “Highest New Entry,” “Most Admired Hotel Group,” and “Highest Climber,” respectively.

The Raffles London, which reopened after a $1.76 billion renovation, exemplifies the substantial marketing presence that contributes to its ranking. Last year’s champion, Passalacqua, retained a strong position at No. 2, demonstrating the staying power of esteemed properties. The geographical representation on the list remained consistent, with minimal entries from sub-Saharan Africa and South America, underscoring ongoing disparities in global hospitality recognition.
