Finance Chief Markus Binkert leaves SWISS after 19 years
Markus Binkert, the Finance Chief of SWISS, has decided to leave the airline after over 19 years. He will become the new CEO of the SV Group.
Finance Chief Markus Binkert is leaving Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) after over 19 years. He will become the new CEO of the SV Group, which is active in various business fields including gastronomy and hotel management. Binkert will leave SWISS at the end of May 2024. The search for a replacement has been initiated.

Binkert joined SWISS from strategy consulting in 2005 as Head of Global Key Accounts & Business Sales Switzerland. After various positions in product, marketing, and sales, Markus Binkert was appointed to the management of SWISS in 2013 and appointed Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of SWISS. Binkert has shaped the look of SWISS. His handwriting can still be found in the cabin furnishings of the aircraft, the lounges, and also in the culinary offerings of SWISS. From 2016, he also took over responsibility for pricing, revenue management, and distribution for the entire Lufthansa Group. In the years 2019 to 2020, he moved to Lufthansa Airline and became Chief Commercial Officer for the Munich location with simultaneous group responsibility for marketing. Binkert thus became an important link between SWISS and the Lufthansa Group. Since March 2020, Binkert has been the Finance Chief of SWISS and a member of the management team again. In this role, he is responsible for finances as well as for Human Resources, Legal, the Swiss WorldCargo freight division, and the Information Technology area. During his time as Finance Chief, Binkert was responsible, among other things, for the negotiations, drafting, and implementation of the government-guaranteed bridging loan during the pandemic.
