SWISS Foundation approves new collective labour agreement concerning the cabin personnel in 2024

The Swiss International Air Lines cabin staff will be subjected to a new collective labour agreement, also known as CLA, from January 1, 2024. It has been implied by a vote that has been mandated of 79.1% to 1%. The new proposed agreement of CLA has been acknowledged and approved by Kapers Cabin Crew Union members. In addition to providing a solid basis for future success, the new agreement embodies the last step that is significant in the post-corona rehabilitation of the same. A gamut of financial and quality-of-life benefits are additionally offered to SWISS cabin crew personnel by the new CLA. Across the following five years, SWISS plans to invest a total of CHF 200 million.

The members of the Kapers Cabin Crew Union have adopted the proposed new CLA24 Collective Labour Agreement by majority vote relating to the SWISS or Swiss International Air Lines cabin employees. Seventy-nine percent of the referendum votes cast went on to support the approval of the CLA, which was an average of 876,6% voter turnout. At the start of November, SWISS and Kaspar came to an understanding of the revised CLA. Other than the pay hikes, CLA24 also offers many enhancements relating to the working conditions of cabin crew members as well as better caters to the specific requirements of the approximately 3,500 personnel that make up the SWISS cabin crew corps.

Dieter Vranckx, the CEO of SWISS told the media that the good outcome of the referendum affirms that the new collective labour agreement relating to the cabin staff will provide a solid basis upon which the company can successfully construct and furthermore look upon the shared future. This agreement also signifies the last significant step in SWISS’s post-corona rehabilitation. Furthermore, SWISS plans to invest around CHF 200 million in the cabin staff corps over the next five years, in recognition of the benefits it offers. A significant factor in the success of its business is the cabin crew.

The full-time baseline monthly compensation of all SWISS cabin crew personnel will be hiked by CHF 400 under the new CLA24. Along with these increases in outlay rates, the new CLA will be inclusive of a two percent inflation-based compensation increase. Furthermore, beginning in their third year of employment, members of the cabin crew have the option of receiving a guaranteed partial (and eventually full) 13th-month wage payout or a variable compensation component based on SWISS business success. Another novelty is the addition of compensation for standby work.
