Taiwan Shines as a Prime Destination For French Tourists, According To New Travel Data From Skyscanner And Expedia

Recent data from leading global travel platforms Skyscanner and Expedia reveals that Asian cities are increasingly favored by French travelers in the post-pandemic era, with Taiwan securing the fifth spot in search volume. In response to the recovery of the European tourism market, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism has strategically positioned the city as a prime destination, showcasing its rich cultural heritage, natural attractions, and world-class international events.

In October, the Department hosted a special six-day familiarization tour in Taipei for key representatives from top European travel agencies. The participants were immersed in the city’s rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and dynamic urban appeal, quickly recognizing Taipei as a top destination for travelers seeking unique and authentic experiences. Upon returning, the agencies began offering exclusive Taipei tour packages on their websites and actively promoted the city’s attractions through social media, sparking strong interest among European tourists.

To further boost the city’s visibility, the Department launched a targeted marketing campaign during the peak travel season following Paris Fashion Week. The campaign featured a video highlighting Taipei’s seamless mix of rural beauty and urban vibrancy, displayed at CITADIOM, a fashionable department store in Paris. This effort included keyword-driven ads and YouTube promotions to engage a broad European audience, solidifying Taipei’s reputation as a must-visit destination in Asia.

Thanks to the familiarization tour and these strategic marketing initiatives, Taipei’s tourism profile in Europe has soared. Many travel agencies have reported a notable increase in inquiries, with several group tours already scheduled to explore the city’s diverse offerings—its culture, nature, and world-class cuisine.
