Environmental, Social and Governance commonly known as ESG, is important for the assessment and credit rating processes. When it comes to aviation, ESG is important for mitigating risks relating to sustainability. TAP Air Portugal has finally made its way ahead of competitors and attains a 24.4 ESG Risk Rating. They were assessed by Morningstar Sustainalytics. The airline has outperformed 92% of its global rivals by positioning itself as a leader in ethical and sustainable aviation.
TAP Air Portugal came in 2nd out of the 14 European airlines and in 6th place out of a total of 71 global airlines evaluated.
The combination of TAP Air Portugal’s risk exposure and ESG issue management is reflected in this ESG Risk Rating.
TAP’s performance is in line with industry trends in a field where sustainability is becoming more and more important, while also outperforming the subindustry average in ESG management.
The airline’s strategies happen to be rooted in conscious stewardship of both social and natural resources, with sustainability at the core of its operational ethos. This strives to exist as a comprehensive management model that is instrumental in the integration of environmental, social, and financial resilience.
This multifaceted way of measuring ESG risk synthesises the concepts of management and exposure to reach an evaluation for ESG risk.
The ESG Risk Rating, which applies universally across various industries, represents an overall score of unmanaged Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk. This rating by Sustainalytics quantifies unmanaged ESG risk and categorizes it into five distinct levels: negligible, low, medium, high, and severe.
